I run a couple of different classes and have taught at Festival of Quilts and various quilt guilds across the UK.
I love teaching sustainable quilting techniques and seeing people get great results from their scraps of fabric and making something useful.
Crumb blocks are the way to use up all the scraps you've been saving up forever and can't decide how to use.
I'll demonstrate a couple of different methods that all levels of ability will be able to do.
Upcoming and Recent Classes
Festival of Quilts 2019
I'll be teaching my Crumb Blocks class at Festival of Quilts this year, attendees will make crumb blocks using a variety of different techniques and will end up with enough blocks to make a medium sized cushion cover.
We'll also add a porthole (reverse applique) to add some contrast and finish the top off with a mix of machine and hand quilting.
Never throwaway a scrap again.
North East Modern Quilt Guild 2019
Traveled to Newcastle to teach my crumb blocks and porthole class to a group of 20 quilters. Everybody produced a porthole and made a load of crumb blocks. I also did a quick talk on my influences and a trunk show of some of my quilts.
"Chris has shown me that my quilting is mine and I can enjoy that process and finished product no matter how well practiced it is. Basically Chris, my mould has been completely broken and I'm eternally thankful."
Leeds Modern Quilt Guild 2018
Taught my crumb blocks class to a great group at Leeds Modern Quilt Guild in the summer of 2018. The group really embraced the process and the results were amazing - see below.
Festival of Quilts 2018
I taught two wonderful classes at Festival of Quilts 2018. We made a load of crumb blocks and everyone went away able to do a porthole, what more do you need?
